Online Store!

Hey guys! So I've finally put this thing together, and opened an online shop!
http://avnergeller.bigcartel.com/

You can find my new sketchbook there, as well as other prints that might be familiar to you. As for now it's enabled for US shipping only, but if you'd like to order from anywhere else, contact me and I'll figure out the shipping rates.

Also if anyone runs into any issues let me know, as this is kind of new to me.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing the love!

Books!

I while back Stevie and I were asked to interview for two books that cover the process of making an animated short film. Both Ideas for the Animated Short (Karen Sullivan), and Secrets of CG Short Filmmakers (Jeremy Cantor), are 2nd editions of the successful books. Karen and Jeremy are currently instructors in the Computer animation department at Ringling College of Art and Design.

I recently got copies of both, and they are packed with information and interviews with a whole bunch of extremely talented filmmakers. We are humbled to be included in these collections (and even more, to make it to the cover!) and hope these will inspire a bunch of new original short films. personally I just got an itch to start working on a new short :)

Till next time!

Ronald Serale

commuting, ink and water color

This is a piece I created for the Searle In America auction, a fundraiser organized by Matt Jones to raise money for a Ronald Searle exhibit to be open at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco this Fall.

The piece is inspired by my daily trips on the San Francisco public transit system. Not a big fan of the commute, but hey, it's great drawing time!

Searle is a huge inspiration, and I am humbled participate in this great project alongside such amazing artists.
Make sure to check out the show's site.

Leftover Cuties

Almost 2 years ago my friend yezi introduced me to the Leftover Cuties. I was immediately hooked.
They are lovely band, based in LA (I think), and I was lucky enough to catch them in SF  a few months back. They have been a big part of my daily soundtrack in the past couple of years, and I highly recommend you check them out.

This is a little tribute I felt like doing after many hours of great music. Thanks guys!

and some tunes HERE

Note - The band members seem to all be playing a bunch of instruments, so I hope I didn't mess it up  too bad :)

So this happened (or: First world problems)

“HEY AVNER!!”

“Do you want to get some coffee?”

*sigh*... “Okay...”

- “So ahhhh... You think you have enough mugs there?”

- “Don’t me get started, Carlos”

“it’s been a rough week... “

“...And besides...”

“Check out this beautiful gradient!”

“ehhhh...”

“Gross”

“Ahh man... out of clean mugs...”

“There must be some somewhere around here”

“Nothing in here”

“Yeah same here... What are we gonna do?”

“WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?!!”

“WHAT WOULD MACGYVER DO??!”

Woooosh

“He would use a screwdriver to core an apple...”

“…and then use it as a mug”

“That’s what MacGyver would do, anyway...”

“Well... I guess no coffee, for now...”

“ammm.... I guess we could... wash a couple of mugs?”

”Well I feel dumb...”

“yeahhhhhh......”

(Sad but) True story...

Also, I thought it might be fun to show how I start these things...

Thanks for stopping by! Last story about coffee I promise!!!
