Sketch-O-Meter

I Love sketching in coffee shops.

usually, the sketching is accompanied by some coffee.
I call this coffee: COURTESY COFFEE

The reason for this is that the only reason I get it,
is that I feel bad to just take a seat without buying anything.

Problem is, that if you sketch a lot...

It can become expensive...

Aaaaand of course there are other implications...

One day I decided to break from my habit, and sketch COFFEE-FREE.

I snuck quietly pass the Barista...

But Baristas are like dogs...

They can SMELL your fear.

I sat in a quiet corner in the back, hoping to not get noticed.

It wasn't long before the rest of the hounds sensed  my coffee-free table.

And they were NOT pleased...

I tried to keep it together...

But the pressure was too high.

and then, just when I was about to break...

BRILLIANT!!
How did I not think of  inventing this sooner?!!
The solution to all my problems!
No more wasting money and gaining salted-caramel-calories!

Ohhhhh the possibilities!! I was grinning from joy.

But then, just when it seemed like everything is perfect...

I just couldn't resist...

Spelling Bee

 "Say that again..."

"With a V ?"

 "with an...F ?"

 "you got it!"

 ...

 "one more time..."

"ahhh..."

 "wow, that's a cool name!"

"can you spell that?"

No matter how many times I repeat my name, I can't seem to get the folks at Starbucks to spell it right... sighhhhhh.....

Summer Days

When I was in 5th grade, my family moved to a brand new neighborhood. There was literally nothing around but barren hills, and one old bus-turn-candy-shop that was parked outside of our school, and made our warm summer days a little cooler. ahhh... simpler cell phone free times :)

MY DAD AND SPORTS

My dad never really believed in sports.

No one really ever had to tell him he’s not good at it. He kind of just.. Felt it.

And as he grew up it didn’t get better.

He tried to prove that there are other things which are more important, but.. . Found it hard to communicate.

He decided He has to find proof, some scientific explanation that will convince everyone, that all this physical activity is really not that good for you.

And he was restless as he was spending days and nights searching for an answer.

Things got even worse during his military service, as his ideas were not quite in line with the Army’s Agenda.

The years have passed and in 1984, the year I was born, the stars have aligned to cause an event that will affect my life forever.

"We interrupt this broadcast to bring you these shocking news…"

"Author and running Guru James Fixx.."

"HAS DIED"

Wiki: James Fuller Fixx was the author of the 1977 best-selling book:
The Complete Book of Running

He is credited with helping start America's fitness revolution, popularizing the sport of running and demonstrating the health benefits of regular jogging.

Now Jimmy Fix didn’t just Die.

Ironically he died from a heart attack while…

...JOGGING

After years of searching for a proof, my dad could not be happier.

"I rest my case!"

It was the happiest day of his life.

As I was growing up, the Fixx fiasco gave him a lot of confidence in his Anti-Sports belief.

"Have you beeeeeen working out??"
And he didn't spare an opportunity to tease my friends and I

And then... He turned 50.

"Mr. Geller Most of the tests' results looks pretty good…"

"But I must say that in your age, you really need to start..."

"EXERCISING"
(echo: ” exercising.. exercising.. exercising…”)

” Mr. Geller, did you hear what I said?”

“Mr. Geller?”

“misssterrr Gelleerrr?”

“Mwiiissstwer Gwellllaaaawwuuuaar?”

My dad DID hear.

And my dad is a very disciplined man.

So he ran.

And ran.
 And raaaan…

3 MONTHS LATER

"Mr. Geller, I am glad you came."

"You look a little nervous, you’re sweating… is everything okay?"

"Oh.. no. haha…"

"I just... RAN over here ;)”

"Well Mr. Geller, I have some good news and some bad news."

"The good news is that your situation has not gone worse in the past few months".

"The bad news is that it hasn’t improved either."

"So what I suggest is..."

WOOSHHH

*THUMP*

“Since nothing have changed, I guess I won’t be needing these anymore *WINK*”

And me…

Every time I see people exercising, I am full of admiration, and wish I could do it too.

But there is something stronger than me, that is engraved in my family's tradition.

"Father, I am sorry I have let you down"

"Son, you dishonor me!"

Oh well. If the family’s honor is at stake, and it means a little 'Dad Belly' when I am old…
LET IT BE
